The American colonists lived in the 13 colonies.

King George lll made the colonists pay taxes to Great Britain.

The colonists had a lot of meetings. They talked about taxes. They were mad at the king.

The king sent a ship with boxes of tea to the colonies. The colonists said, “We will not pay taxes on tea.”

A group of colonists had a plan. They dressed like Native Americans.

They went to Boston Harbor to find the tea ship.

They threw boxes of tea in the water! This was called the Boston Tea Party.

King George lll was very mad. He sent British soldiers to the Boston Harbor.
