Anne Frank was born on June 12, 1929. She was a teenager who lived during World War ll.

Anne had a nice family. She had an older sister named Margot. Her family lived in Frankfurt, Germany.

Nazi symbol
When Anne was a child, Adolf Hitler became the leader of the Nazi Party in Germany. Hitler did not like Jewish people.

Star of David: Jewish symbol
Anne’s family was Jewish. They were afraid of the Nazis. They moved to Amsterdam.

Later the Nazis invaded Amsterdam. The Jewish people had to wear a yellow star on their clothing. The Nazis made a lot of rules for Jewish people to follow.

Then, the Nazis forced Jewish people to go to concentration camps. Anne’s family had to hide from the Nazis.

Anne Frank’s family hid here. Today it is a museum.
Anne’s family hid in a secret place. They had to be very, very quiet. They could not let the Nazis know they were there.

Anne’s family hid for 2 years! Anne wrote a diary while she was hiding. She was so bored.

9 One day the Nazis found their hiding place! It was awful. Anne’s family was forced on a train. They were sent to a concentration camp.

The concentration camps were awful. Many Jewish people died. Anne’s mother, Margot, and Anne all died at the camp.

Anne’s diary is now a book. People like to read it. They learn what it was like for Anne during World War ll.
